Black Belt Community Foundation’s project aims to improve WIC engagement, enrollment, and retention in Dallas, Wilcox, Marengo, and Choctaw Counties.
Innovative strategies employed by this project include streamlining enrollment efforts with Head Start to connect eligible families to established educational and support services and enhance nutrition and health outcomes. Lessons learned will provide insights into replicable models for addressing barriers related to lack of awareness, geographic isolation, and simplifying the WIC enrollment process.
