Community Progress Council’s (CPC) project aims to strengthen WIC in York County, Pennsylvania, by increasing awareness of program services and benefits among eligible families.

CPC will leverage data matching with Medicaid and create WIC Community Outreach Navigator positions dedicated to promoting WIC throughout the county, in various languages and locations. Navigators will use a mobile outreach vehicle unit to expand partnerships with Head Start, grocery stores, food pantries and other organizations within the maternal and child health sector to meet people where they are. The WIC Navigator team will provide comprehensive, integrated services and provide ongoing coaching to encourage WIC enrollment and retention.

All marketing and program materials will be translated into a few of the most used languages, including Spanish and Creole.

The project will also promote the full value of the WIC benefits and highlight WIC foods in creative and culturally appropriate ways to help promote retention.
