Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services’ project aims to strengthen WIC services among Wayne County’s immigrant population, particularly those of Middle Eastern and North African descent in the Metro-Detroit area.

The project will focus on increasing WIC enrollment and retention within the priority population. Innovative outreach strategies employed by the project include engaging community members to develop culturally appropriate and linguistically accessible materials to increase awareness and enrollment in WIC services.

The project team will also conduct outreach events at community hubs and local faith-based organizations to disseminate culturally and linguistically accurate educational materials related to WIC.

Lessons learned from the proposed subgrant can be applicable to other communities that serve immigrant populations with limited health literacy.
