The Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center’s project seeks to increase WIC enrollment among immigrant families and families with limited English proficiency in Hamilton County, Ohio.

Cincinnati Children’s will use community-level data to identify areas in the county with low rates of WIC enrollment and then develop a user-friendly online WIC referral system accessible via QR code and translated into preferred languages. The project will also expand partnerships between primary care offices and local WIC offices in areas with low WIC enrollment. Input from WIC and health department staff, health care providers, and WIC families will inform the development of the project.

The online referral system created through this project will be tranferable to other health care systems looking to increase WIC enrollment through collaboration between primary care and local WIC offices.
